Until May 10th this wonderful sculpture that sings will be on display at Canada Square Park at Canary Wharf
Luke Jerram: Aeolous – acoustic wind pavilion
In Greek Mythology, Aeolus is the god of the four winds.
Place your ear to any of the tubes on the outside of the sculpture and head a different low note from each one, like a musical scale.
Stand beneath the arch and listen to the sculpture ‘sing’ when the strings attached at the top vibrate in the breeze, like the strings of a musical instrument.
Stand inside the sculpture, peer down the tubes and see reflections of the surrounding buildings and landscape, giving familiar sights a different perspective.
Stand in the exact centre of the arch, make a sound and hear the echo.
