about me and London

The name alone conjures an image of mystery, excitement, wonder and the thrill of big city lights.

Millions of people, every year, are drawn to London - to explore, to study, to live and work, to visit for a while, perhaps to fall in love and stay for life.

That is exactly what happened to me. I landed at City of London airport on the 9th October 2001, en-route to Ireland and as I emerged from the underground on my way towards Heathrow, I looked out the window of the train and fell in love (with the chimney pots – reminded me of Mary Poppins).  A love that has never wavered; increased over time, and developed into a full-blown passion.   In simple words……I adore London.

There is nothing about this city that I cannot enjoy and I love to go walk-about through the streets, wandering here and there, finding previously unknown streets and alleyways, gasping at the hidden treasures that reveal themselves from time to time, all the while rejoicing in the privilege that it is for me, to live in this fabulous place.

I have never tired of the thrill I get each time I return from travels here and there, my first sight of the river viewed from the train always lifts my heart with a little trill of excitement…I am home!

London is to me, by far the most exotic, fascinating, exciting, wonderful, and beautiful city in the world…and I have had the privilege to see quite a few.

I have never felt more at home than here, albeit a foreigner to these shores.

Through this blog, I hope to share with you some of the magic I find in this city, give you some ideas of wonderful places to explore and see, and invite to visit our fair city for 3DaysInLondon…..and perhaps you could be persuaded to linger for a wee bit longer :)

So let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London……
